Part of it is surprise at the notion. Part of it is that making fasting, or the feast that follows, the theme for fics... I'm afraid will trivialize the experience and focus on superficial features, thereby missing the point entirely. (Or what I think is the point, at least. Deliberately placing significant restrictions on my daylight thoughts and activities, and the mindscape that results from that effort.)
