ursamajor: Data is smiling; must be Lore. (amused amused amused lulz)

http://abc.abcnews.go.com/primetime/specials/bachelor/bios/Andrew.html

sheesh. first it was two degrees of separation from somebody on The Real World, now it's one degree from the next Bachelor. shee-heesh. *ggl*
ursamajor: [text] you're even crazier than me (we get a little crazy)
28 hours away, slipped off with ingrid to visit sarah and dania and nat. though i napped a good portion of the way down to new haven, having stayed up the previous night talking to andrew and then scott, who was like "why are you even awake right now," lol.

"omigod, you're like a corporation!" n to d, on her dating efficiency.

already spotted and scared: we're driving by the gym, and sarah goes, "Isn't that ... steve vladeck?" next thing you know, five amherst women are leaning their heads out the car window, screaming, "STEEEEVE!" and then the light turned green and the cars behind us started honking, and sarah had to pull away ...

*amused*

apparently, andrew has been running around in the snow in shorts and a tee; i already told grace if he catches cold, she has my permission to laugh her ass off at him. i don't know if this is a boy thing or a minnesotan thing!

current mix:

lou reed - a perfect day * harry connick jr - let's just kiss * the cure - why can't i be you (maybe)* incubus - i miss you * the proclaimers - 500 miles * great big sea - fast as i can * toad the wet sprocket - i will not take these things for granted * billy joel - the longest time * dave and tim - lover lay down *

i'd forgotten how much i love seattle. *sigh*

next time.

many, many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] heathers and [livejournal.com profile] lonejaguar and [livejournal.com profile] girlmitzi for putting up with me the past coupla days ... you're always welcome chez moi if you're ever east. :)

[livejournal.com profile] pukajen, did you get my messages? in case you didn't, 3:30 tomorrow, New West Greyhound. i'll ring you again at some insanely early hour of the morning to make sure (don't wanna wake up your parents at this hour); also need to know which you need me to bring across the border.

8/13/23: I didn't write about how much I loved Grace's parents' home here, but it made a strong enough impression on me that I wrote about it later.

but i have turkey boobies roasting in the oven!

(just blame technomancy)

and i have cornbread stuffing in the fridge (which will be yummy) and pumpkin rice pudding chilling in there as well (which will be even *more* yummy :) ), and after another wee break, i am going to go make my sesame green beans.

and then i will sit myself down at my window, the steam heater whistling at me on one side while the fan blows in cold air on the left from the open window in front of me. and i will eat a yummy thanksgiving dinner that i made ALL by myself.

and then maybe after dinner i'll get around to that laundry and cleaning that i was supposed to get done today ... hehehe.

a thanksgiving dinner timeline )

thank you for letting me be where i am right now.
thank you for keeping my friends close to me, both physically and otherwise.
thank you for my generous and bemused but proud and supportive parents.
thank you for a life filled with music.

thank you for not making my life *totally* boring. ;)
thank you for bringing more good people into my life, especially the ones taking the form of eye candy ;)

thank you for our safety and courage.

thank you for the hope that keeps me going.

thank you for the reminders to pursue things passionately.

i have many things to be grateful for, but especially you. thank you.

9:40 am: Bagpipes start blaring "God Bless America."
9:45 am: Hundreds of people start cheering. Someone announces on the PA about a marathon. I assume they're talking about my sleep marathon, and that I'm really still asleep and dreaming, and attempt to go back to bed.
9:50 am: A loud bass belts out the Star Spangled Banner.
9:55 am: They blast Gettin' Jiggy Wit It over the PA. This is just the *beginning* of the "inspirational songs for runners" mix--over the next couple of hours, even more music is blasted towards my window, including a crapload of overly bright and cheesy uber-patriotic songs.
11:57 am: I'm still cranky because I haven't gotten to go back to sleep because of the stupid marathoners and other loud annoying people outside my window since 9:40 am this morning when I haven't been to bed before 4 am the last two nights.

BAH.

texts from me to angela:
* hon, it's a VERY GOOD THING you stayed at ingrid's last night
* i got woken up at 9:30 am by BAGPIPES blaring god bless america
* and then hundreds of people cheering
* and a very.loud.bass belting out the national anthem
* and now they're blasting "gettin' jiggy wit' it." OVER SPEAKERS.

before that, though: emily is my hero, driving through downtown boston traffic! she and mel and i went down to new haven friday night to hang out with christina and michelle and party with actually hot med students, indeed! "you're right. the hallway IS naked!" and then last night, back in boston, taking over the cottonwood for girly night with ingrid and sarah and dania and angela and susannah and dreux and bianca (and brent and yamuel and dan).

and iming with grace (get yourself up to boston soon, hon!) and mak!

10/08/2006: Five years later, I'm sitting on my old front stoop, at around the same buttcrack-of-dawn hour, waiting for [livejournal.com profile] hyounpark to cross the finish line on this same half-marathon. Good god, how things change.

just stuck at work. i should be home in the next 45. network's been down all day so i had no way to communicate i'd be coming home late.

anyone who's near copley or who WENT near copley is fucking nuts. luckily ingrid and yamuel are safely away.

i spoke with vic down in New Orleans, and the deans came to his dorm to warn minority students not to go anywhere alone for the next few days, so as not to make themselves targets. and it's not limited to the south--hate calls have been made to arab-american organizations in california, and quite frankly, you couldn't pay me to be out of doors by myself after dark right now.
