BC people have already seen this, but I figured I'd post it over here as well:

Chorus Pro Musica's first concert of the year is approaching fast! (Way too fast!) Sunday, November 7 at 3 pm, we're putting on a concert as part of a day of events promoting Choral Arts New England, an organization which gives grants to New England choruses, enabling them to afford to stay around. The performance will be held at the Church of the Advent in Boston (30 Brimmer St, Charles MGH T stop). More information on all the various events is available on the CANE website: http://www.choralarts-newengland.org/festival.html

As the concert is focused on New England composers, the pieces we're performing include works by Billings, Alice Parker, Copland (In the Beginning is the most awesome piece EVER; has echoes of Water Night in it for those of you who remember Concert Choir performances senior year) and Ives (Serenity and Psalm 90); because this is our French Season, we're also performing pieces by Boulanger and Duruflé. In addition, we've commissioned a Daniel Pinkham piece, which we'll be premiering at this concert.

Tickets for this event range from $30 to $100 if you're buying just for this concert; $26 to $85 if you're buying as part of a CPM subscription package (check our website at http://www.choruspromusica.org ). However, CPM is going to need ushers and box office assistants for this concert. (This is where the FREE part comes in ;) ) The chorus manager just sent out an email saying we're going to need 3 box office assistants who report at 1:30 pm, and 6 ushers who report at 2:15 pm. Each of these volunteers gets to attend the concert for free.

I'd love to see some of you there! If you enjoy choral music, this is seriously a DO NOT MISS concert. I don't know how fast the volunteer slots are going to go, though, so let me know ASAP if you'd like to take advantage and get into one of my concerts affordably for once ;) And if you can afford to purchase a ticket and would like to come, so much the better, and thank you for your contribution to keeping the choral arts alive in New England! :)

unrelatedly, anyone doing anything cheap and fun tonight?
